The history of the company, which takes its name from the city of KONGSBERG in Norway, dates back to the 1600s. The company started its activities as the KONGSBERG Arms Factory in 1814, has always been a very important place for the defense industry due to the rich underground resources of the city where it was founded. KONGBERG Automotive, the arm of the KONGSBERG Group operating in the automotive sector, was first producing brakes for VOLVO heavy vehicles in 1957. In 1958, KA was producing axle shafts for VOLVO heavy vehicles. KONGSBERG opened another factory in Rollag, Norway in 1975 and they opened one more factory in the city of Hvittingfoss a year later. In 1987, KONGSBERG Automotive employees bought the company and separated it from KONSGBERG Group and KONGBERG Automotive was officially established. KONGSBERG Automotive listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange in 1995, this was one of the important turning points of the company. KA continued to grow by establishing various production facilities, factories and R&D centers in Brazil in 1998, Poland and the USA in 2000, China in 2004 and Canada in 2012.

Mesay Automotive has been authorized dealer of KONSGBERG Automotive since 2015. KONGSBERG clutch masters, shift cables and gear knobs are used in the production of VOLVO and RENAULT heavy-duty vehicles, for which MESAY supplies spare parts. KONGSBERG, the original equipment manufacturer, also produces high quality clutch masters for SCANIA and DAF heavy duties. These are also always available in MESAY stocks.
