NEW VOLVO FH SERIES HANDLING

While developing the newly launched FH series, Volvo Trucks paid great attention to the handling of the truck and its reactions on the road.

Features such as optimizing both front and rear suspension systems, increased idling stability and better cab suspension all ensure that the new Volvo FH offers superior handling and handling. Independent front suspension makes the new FH even better.

A world first - Independent front suspension.

The new Volvo FH series is also the world's first heavy tractor with independent front suspension (IFS). Alongside IFS, rack-and-pinion steering and the FH tractor have two new features that have a huge impact on handling and handling

Regarding the subject, Volvo Trucks Product Manager Martin Palming said; “IFS means that the front wheels have separate suspension so that the movements of one wheel do not affect the other. The result is a more stable and balanced ride on the road.

Independent front suspension has been used for a long time in passenger cars and for a while in buses. IFS increases both comfort and stability.

More precision

Chassis and cabin improvements also mean the new Volvo FH's steering stability is better. The combination of rollover prevention and steering stability provides the driver with an enhanced sense of precision and control, making driving easier. Stefan Axelsson said: “The new FH offers stable and predictable driving on the road. We also succeeded in perfecting the handling.

The balance of steering and rollover prevention has a direct impact on the driver and an indirect impact on the carrier's profitability. Stefan Axelsson on this subject;

"The improved features of the truck make the driver less fatigued and thus more comfortable to drive. A driver who can focus on his job drives more confidently and is more successful in every task, whether it's driving or meeting the customer at the end of the route," he says.

More precise handling

Rack and pinion steering is also an exemplary technology from the passenger car industry. A geared steering shaft ensures that steering wheel movements are transmitted to the wheels more directly than with a conventional steering gear. The combination of these two new features gives the new Volvo FH unique driving and handling characteristics.

Commenting on the new technology that will initially be used in left-hand drive trucks, Martin Palming said, “The Volvo FH sets the standard in terms of both steering stability and handling and handling in bends. It is simply an extraordinary feeling to be able to drive a fully loaded train with such precision and safety. “Without any extra steering effort to keep the car on track, the new FH tractor follows the line you set around bends with truly impressive precision.”
Launched in the past months, the New Volvo FH will enter the European market in the spring of 2013.
