HOLSET

Numerous heavy-duty engine components, including vibration dampers and couplings, were designed and manufactured with significant involvement from Holset Engineering. Turbocharging on commercial diesel engines saw a sharp increase in the 1950s, and in 1954 Holset obtained a license from Dr. Alfred Buechi to manufacture his turbocharger design. After Louis Schwitzer's Indianapolis, Indiana-based business created a compact, lightweight turbocharger about 1957, Holset and Schwitzer established a tight working relationship and a license arrangement. For the European market, where Schwitzer at the time lacked manufacturing facilities, Holset designed and produced turbochargers. By 1973, Holset had produced one millionth turbochargers. The current name of Holset is Cummins Turbo Technologies. Holset has been a part of the Cummins Engine Company family for more than 30 years, despite the fact that the name is relatively new. Holset is a pioneer in turbocharger technology, and Holset turbochargers are crucial to the success of Cummins brand engines globally.
